Tour: Canberra-CIVIC

Hari perpisahan. Pagi tuh, tour group akan bertolak balik ke Melb while aku akan ke arah lain. Plan nya nak tumpang rumah Uncle Sharifuddin+Auntie Sharifah untuk few days sebab aku nak kena renew passport.

Steve drop me off kat CIVIC. Rasa syahdu sangat kena berpisah dengan 'new friends'. Sementara tunggu Auntie Sharifah datang jemput, aku merayau2 dulu keliling CIVIC. Tak macam Melbourne & Sydney, CIVIC nie sepi je.

City Centre or Civic is the central business district of Canberra, Australia's capital city. The city centre was officially established in 1927. It was meant to be called Civic Centre from Walter Burley Griffin's plan with a corresponding "Market Centre" located at what is now Russell, but Prime Minister Stanley Bruce vetoed the idea and it became officially known as City Centre, and the idea of the "Market Centre" was abandoned. However, City Centre is still most commonly referred to as "Civic".

Aku dok plan nak masuk CIVIC Library and Canberra Museum & Gallery, tapi Auntie Sharifah dah call cakap she will be there in 20minutes. Cancel la plan akhirnya.

Jadiknya, jalan patah balik ke tgh2 CIVIC. Lalu kot jalan mana entah, sekalik jumpa some kinda art/street market.

A while after that, Auntie Sharifah sampai & off we go home. Lame story, right?

Tour: Sydney - Canberra [Tribute I]

My roomates - Huong, Linn & Sabin
Soalan pertama yg Huong tanya aku masa kitaorg sampai kat bilik ialah "what is your religion?" Nak gelak pon ada time tuh :-D agaknya dia pelik kot sebab aku pakai tudung :-D

Amoi said that she love this picture, so I upload it for her ;-)

Masa 1st night di Canb, I wasn't feeling well so x join diaorg g dinner. Then, tak lama lepas tu, dapat call dari Huong. She asked me what I wanna eat for dinner, dia nak belikan utk aku :ty_ty: *tersentuh hatiku, rasa macam sangat2 disayangi* :ty_ty: Linn & Sabin pon sama. Balik je dari dinner, bukak je pintu terus menuju ke bilik aku. Tanya how I was feeling

Masa di Sydney, malam aku nak g Sydney Tower tuh diaorg nak ke bar so diaorg tanya aku whether ada bar yg best2 kat Darling Harbour (sah minah2 ni tatau yg alcohol are prohibited to muslim) Siap ajak aku join sekali 8-) Lepas dah explain, diaorg relax je ok. Diaorg pon takde mabuk2 masa balik bilik. Best sgt stay dgn diaorg nieh :flowers:

Linn & Sabin kalau tak silap aku Norwegian. Diaorg ni Exchange Student. Pasnie, takde la rezeki nak jumpa diaorg lagi dah :-(

Amoi - Etta ni aku jumpa masa tgh dinner. Camna ntah leh ngam plak dgn dia. Mungkin sebab kepala dia sama je gila dengan aku LOL Minah ni jauh lebih muda dari aku, tapi dia dah abeh masters pon (org semua dah abesh grad, aku ni ntah bila nak abesnya :shy: ) Lepas graduation ceremony (bulan 5 kot) amoi dah nak balik mesia :-( takpe amoi, nanti bila cuti2 aku balik mesia kita g ronggeng2 sama ok? ;-)

Aku: Amoi, u jump la. I take ur picture bila u dah sampai bawah!.
Tak perasan plak yg aku dok amik gambar  ni, si Saleh tengah posing depan aku. Mencapap la aku kejap dalam gambar Saleh tuh LOL

Javier - masa mula2 nampak mamat ni sebelum bertolak ke Sydney, aku rasa hepi (baca: dalam hati kata "wah!!! ada mamat melayu ke? ada peluang nak ngendeng2 nieh" :devilish: ) Dah kenal2, baru ku tahu rupanya dia Mexican (baca: aisehhh! melepas! :blackeye: ) Before we parted at Canberra, Javier said to me: "I've never met any girl as crazy as you! I'm gonna miss your craziness" LOL Thanx dude! For all the stories & laughter.

Javier pon akan balik Mexico lepas abes semester ni. Dia amik english course di LTBU so, tak dpat nak jumpa dia masa di uni (baca: English course punya class di Languange Centre, dekat2 dgn main campus)

amoi+javier+agnes(tour organizer)

Saleh - seorang pendidik yg comel yg sangat baik hati.

I had a great time with you all. Thanx a lot guys!.

Radin - Ntah macam mana aku leh tercampak dok sebelah mamat nie. Memula ackward giler rasa, but after a while rancak arr jadinya kitaorg dua orang. Mamat ni plak kaki sembang, lagi la menjadi2. Nasib baik takde gambar awek2 member2 uni dalam iPod. Kalau ada, nak jugak aku tunjukkan gambar Muneera buat offer kenen2kan utk dia :toxic: Kalau Mun tak nak, Kak Betty pon bleh gaks :devilish: Cik Dah nak jugak ke? Aisyah takleh kot, pasal dia tgh under training utk jadi studyholic person (ader ke perkataan studyholic nie? LOL)

Steve the bus driver - He called me "my little princess" Perasan la aku kejap lepas tuh :crazy_freak: Lelaki itali mmg semua gelenyar eh? :-D

Steve: Let me carry you on my back.
Aku: It's alright. I prefer jump

Lastly, semua2 yg tahan telinga mendengar aku meraban, tahan mata melihat aksi2 tak masuk akal aku & melayan+menyokong aktiviti+idea2 gila aku

Special Tribute: Muneera.
Few days sebelum ke Sydney, aku msg Mun tanya kalau2 dia mahu join ke Sydney+Canb. Sayangnya, dia kena balik mesia jumpa dentist "which kinda urgent"
:fear: :hiding: :fear:
Some people find it very difficult to pronounce my name, so aku dapat beberapa nama baru. The arabs called me "Nura" @ "Nurah" while some called me "Nora". Yang paling x tahan tu, ada tour leader panggil aku "Yusoff". Tuh nama bapak aku weh!!!! Kesian abah, mesti tersedak setiap kali tour leader tuh jerit nama aku (Yusoff).

Masa kat Scenic World (Blue Mountain), kitaorg terlambat sebab tunggu Scenic CableWay. So one of the tour leader dok asking around if anyone have my number.

Q: Does anybody have Nurul's number?
A: Nurul who?
Q: The girl that wears scraf. The one that cover her head.
A: u mean Nurah?"
A: u mean Nura?"
A: u mean Nora?"
:fear: :hiding: :fear:
Honestly, masa memula nak pergi tuh nervous jugak. Ye la, aku sorang je female+malay+muslim dalam tour group tuh. But alhamdulillah, dapat new friends semua yg broad-minded & sgt2 memahami.

These are some of the great people that I met during this tour.

Tour: Sydney-Sydney Wildlife World

SPOILER: this is gonna be a very LONG entry :SPOILER

Balik dari BM, sampai city around 1600. Ikut schedule, takde apa2 activity dah for that day. Most people g shopping time tu. Aku plak? Blom puas merayau arrr! Plan asalnya aku+Huong+Radin nak g Sydney Aquarium+Sydney Wildlife World around 1830@1900, so ada few hours to kill. Radin nak g spa+massage & Huong plak nak g Kingston jumpa member dia. Tinggal aku dengan Javier je melongo :hopeless:

The origin of Paddy's as a distinct market dates back to 1834 when Governor Bourke decided to move traders in hay and grain to a site next to the new cattle market in Campbell Street, Sydney. The move created a split among stallholders within the "fringe" market. Some had regular customers among the cattlemen and hay and grain growers, and they moved to join farmers in the new Haymarket area. The food sellers and second hand dealers also did a good trade, both in the vicinity of the market house and around the Haymarket pubs. The majority, however, stayed on at the George Street market.

Governor Bourke's decision to allow the market to stay open until 10.00pm on Saturdays marks the real beginnings of what we know today as Sydney's Paddy's Markets.

By 1842, when the markets came under the jurisdiction of Sydney Council, the Saturday Paddy's-style market was well established. The Council gave it another boost by allowing the George Street market to remain open until 10.00 pm on Wednesday nights.
source: http://www.paddysmarkets.com.au

Aku ingat nak pegi Paddy's market kat Haymarket sebab Etta (amoi) kata tempat tu macam Queen Victoria Market (sapa2 penah dtg Melb tau arr camna rupa QVM nieh). Tapi market tuh bukak ari khamis sampai ahad je *sigh* Aku plak dok craving for masakan melayu, sambil merayau2 tuh dok usha2 kalau2 ada restoran malaysia. Aku seret mamat Mexico tu teman aku g cari restoran malaysia.

Pusing punya pusing, sekali jumpa Cafe Kasturi on George Street!!! YAHOO!! :lol_crash: tepon amoi ajak kalau2 dia nak join makan pasal siang tuh dia ada citer yg dia pon tgh ngidam nak makan rendang :-> Tunggu amoi datang dengan Yen, dah dekat pkl 7. Pastuh tunggu Radin plak datang, abes dinner semua pon dah pkl 1900++. Kelam kabut kitaorg (aku+Javier+Radin+amoi+Yen) jalan laju2 g Darling harbour sbb takut terlepas last entry ke Sydney Aquarium+Wildlife World.
During the tour, bebudak tuh ada dok tanya kat aku pasal makanan malaysia, so aku cakap nanti balik Melb aku masakkan utk diaorg *masakkan megi boleh?* Dah jumpa restoran malaysia tu aku kasik arr diaorg try sambal ikan bilis nasi lemak. Radin menjerit kepedasan *jahat kan aku?*

p/s: masakan kat Cafe Kasturi mmg sedap arr. Layanan dia pon best! Cuma its a little bit pricey arr. Either that that, superb!

:ar15: Memula kitaorag g aquarium, tapi lady kat reception centre tuh x kasik dah kitaorg masuk. Jadiknya, semua muka seposen pasal xdapat masuk aquarium :ar15: Lepas tu, g cuba nasib kat Sydney Wildlife World, SWW plak. Javier tak pernah tengok koala, so mmg harap sgt2 dapat masuk. Memula reception lady tuh x kasik dah kitaorg masuk pasal dah pkl 2000 time tuh. Diaorg suh kitaorg datang balik esok siang :hopeless: Maka, dengan muka seposen kitaorg pon bgtau arr yg itu malam last kitaorg kat Sydney sebab esok pagi dah nak kena balik. Tactic menjadi woo!!! Guard bagitau kat reception lady suh kasik gak kitaorg masuk :lol_crash:

Sydney Wildlife World ni macam zoo in the city of Sydney arr. Baru lagi bukak menda ni, around September 2006 gitu. Sebab dia attached to Sydney Aquarium, so memang ada offer kalau beli ticket 2in1(~$45+ kot harganya kalau x silap). Kitaorg student, so dapat diskaun tiket masuk SWW (~$19)

Kat dalam SWW ni ada few exhibits. First sekali "Butterflies - Flutter Bys". For me, yang ni biasa je, sebab semua kat dalam dinding kaca. Tahun lepas masa g Melbourne Zoo dulu, ada Butterflies Garden where u can touch the butterfly :-D (check entry lama2, page 4@5 kalau x silap)

The next exhibit is "Invertebrates - Spineless Wonders"

sengih hepi je si Javier sbb kitaorg dapat masuk SWW

Masa nak masuk "Reptiles - Scales and Tails" exhibit, aku nampak pokok keladi.

Aku: sedapnya kalau dapat makan asam pedas keladi, terliur je bila teringat $-)
Amoi: pokok keladi tuh apa? :shy:
Aku: aiyark, amoi!!! :lol_crash: tuh yang kat belakang you tuh. Yang kaler hijau tuh pokok keladi arr!!! :groucho:
amoi: oh ye ke? amik satu my picture with this pokok keladi, boleh? :cloud9:

Javier cakap kat aku, "I think they know that u are coming here, Nurul :-D Thats why they put up that sign for you!"
Hampeh sungguh mamat nieh!!!

Sapa tau apa nama menatang nieh? Dok kalut2 amik gambar, aku lupa nak check nama dia :angel_fly:

Dulu masa Amien (adik aku yg bongsu) kecik2, dia tengok menatang ni kat channel animal planet then dia akan tanya aku "binatang apa tu kak ayu?" Aku jawab "owth, tuh bapak cicak. Tuh pasal dia besar" 8-)

Habes tengok reptilia, kitaorg g tengok "Flight Canyon - Walking on Air"

Pastu plak "Nocturnal After Dark", "Semi-Arid Grasslands - Red Heart", "Rainforest - Lush Canopy" & "Wallaby Cliffs - High and Dry"

malam tuh, amoi jadi model tak bergaji LOL

Nie lagi satu binatang yg aku tatau nama

Yen+Amoi+Javier+Radin

aborigin's painting

Last exhibit, "Koala Sanctuary - Gum Tree Gully". Tercapai jugak cita2 Javier nak tengok Koala & Kanggaroo+Wallabees.

So I came out with a brilliant idea "redah hujan, jom!" LOL Yang hampeh nya tuh, bila dah halfway perjalanan hujan berhenti daaa. Sabar je la, tahan muka malu jalan kat tgh2 city berkaki ayam & baju basah lencun :-O :hopeless:

Tour: Sydney-Blue Mountain

Last Day in Sydney. Pepagi lepas breakfast kitaorang dah berangkat ke BM. Around 2hrs journey, sempat arr melelapkan mata seketika, huhu.
The Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Australia, are found approximately 48 kilometres west of Sydney. They are a range of sandstone geological structures that reach to at least 1,190 metres AHD (in the Lithgow area). The Blue Mountains are not as the name suggests a range of mountains but rather a plateau with rugged eroded gorges of up to 760 metres depth. A large part of the Blue Mountains is incorporated in the Greater Blue Mountains Area World Heritage Site and its constituent seven national parks and a conservation reserve.

The mountains were originally named by Arthur Phillip in 1788 as the Carmarthen Hills for the northern section near Sydney, and the Lansdowne Hills for the southern, however Blue Mountains quickly became preferred as the popular name. Although known by Indigenous Australians for thousands of years, the Blue Mountains were thought to be impenetrable by the early white settlers of Sydney, and were not crossed until convicts and other explorers found their way across. The most famous expedition was in 1813, by Blaxland, Wentworth and Lawson. Rather than, like earlier explorers, following the river valleys—only to discover usually that they were terminated by vertical cliffs several hundred metres high—the trio followed the ridges to reach the plateau. This 'first crossing' by Lawson, Blaxland and Wentworth is a common misconception due to various monuments claiming this to be so. Indeed the only geographical reward they received for their efforts was the naming of three hills in the Kanimbla Valley northwest of Mount York. This crossing of the Blue Mountains has traditionally been regarded as a critical step that opened the west of New South Wales to European settlement; however, modern historians point out that until about the time the mountains were first crossed there was still ample land available closer to the coast. The oft-told tale, that the Blue Mountains were a crippling barrier to colonial expansion, is largely myth.

A road crossing the mountains was built in only 27 weeks by William Cox, at the behest of Governor Lachlan Macquarie, using 30 convict labourers and 8 guards and was completed in early 1815.

Our first stop was Echo Point in Katoomba.
Ka-toom-ba is Aboriginal for "shining falling water" and takes its name from a waterfall that drops into the Jamison Valley below the Harry's Amphitheatre escarpment. Previously, the site was known as William's Chimney and Collett's Swamp. In 1874 the locality was named The Crushers after the name of the railway station that served a nearby quarry. The name Katoomba was adopted in 1877 and the town achieved municipality status in 1889

Katoomba's main industry is tourism based on spectacular mountain scenery. The rock formation known as the Three Sisters, viewable from Echo Point about two kilometres south of the main town, is the most famous feature. Other features of the Jamison Valley visible from Echo Point include Mt Solitary and the rock formation known as the Ruined Castle. A short walk from Echo Point leads to The Giant Stairway which provides access to a number of nature walks through the Valley. Some of these are quite rugged and not recommended for inexperienced walkers. Several of the Jamison Valley tracks including the Stairway itself were closed in recent years due to maintenance, but most have since been re-opened. The section of track between the Ruined Castle and Mt Solitary is not well marked, and recommended only for experienced bushwalkers. Bushwalkers in the area will be much rewarded as the local geography includes extensive areas of dense sub-tropical rainforest, hanging swamps and a series of spectacular waterfalls (albeit with a relatively low water volume).

Other attractions include Scenic World, a tourist complex in the southwest of the town. This site is home to the steepest funicular railway in the world, the Katoomba Scenic Railway, which was originally built to facilitate coal and oil shale mining in the Jamison Valley. Scenic World also offers the Scenic Skyway cable car, which travels over an arm of the Jamison Valley and offers views of Katoomba Falls and Orphan Rock. In 2004 the original Skyway car was replaced by a new car with a liquid crystal panel floor, which abruptly becomes transparent while the car travels. In 1983 construction began at the site on a rollercoaster called the Orphan Rocker; the track was completed, but this attraction has never been opened to the public.

Katoomba is well-served by hotels and guest-houses, the oldest and most prominent of which is the Carrington Hotel, established in 1882 and occupying the highest point in town. The nearby village of Leura also features numerous well-appointed hotels and health spas and Medlow Bath boasts the grand Hydro Majestic Hotel, originally built in 1891. The busy town centre, centered on Katoomba Street, features dozens of cafes and restaurants, including the Paragon which dates the early 1900s, as well as a number of second-hand book and antique stores.

I found 2 version of the legend. One is from the Information Center at Echo Point & the other one is from internet (wikipedia)

The Three Sisters are a famous rock formation in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Australia. They are close to the town of Katoomba and are one of the Blue Mountains' most famous sights, towering above the Jamison Valley. Their names are Meehni (922 m), Wimlah (918 m), and Gunnedoo (906 m).

The Sisters were formed by erosion. The soft sandstone of the Blue Mountains is easily eroded over time by wind, rain and rivers, and the cliffs surrounding the Jamison Valley are being slowly broken up. Formations like the Three Sisters are created when water seeps into small cracks in the rock, gradually enlarging them over time to form large indentations. Eventually, the Sisters will be eroded away completely.

The modern day tourism industry has created a legend that says that three sisters fell in love with three men from a neighbouring tribe, but marriage was forbidden by tribal law. Battle ensued, and the sisters were turned to stone by an elder to protect them, but he was killed in the fighting and no one else could turn them back. This legend is falsely claimed to be an Indigenous Australian Dreamtime legend.

From the nearby Echo Point, a bushwalking trail leads to the Three Sisters and down to the valley floor via a set of well-maintained steel steps. The Federal Pass is a trail leading to the base of Katoomba Falls and the Katoomba Scenic Railway.

The Blue Mountains are considered one of the most scenic and beautiful sites in Australia.

Dah abes pusing Echo Point, kitaorg g Scenic World. Kalau ikut plan asalnya, tour group kitaorg akan hiking ke bawah then naik balik ke atas via Scenic Railway. Tapi seperti selalu nya jugak la, mana la aku nak join :-> Aku plan nak naik semua sekali (Scenic Skyway+Scenic Railway+Scenic Walkway+Scenic cableway) so I separated myself from the group. Lagipon lebih baik try semua sebab tiket dia cuma $28 je kalau termasuk Skyway. Kalau x campur Skyway, harga dia $16 kot kalau x silap.

Sebab mostly semua orang tak nak dah spend money, so cuma kami berempat je kali ni (Me+Huong+Javier+Abd Aziz)

Kalau sayangkan anggota badan, dok dalam train tuh diam2!

Scenic World

Float on air in the recently unveiled Skyway with its world first Electro-Sceni Glass Floor. Ride the steepest incline Railway in the world down to a lush and hidden valley. Stroll along the Walkway through towering Jurassic rainforest, and refresh both your spirit and soul! Quietly glide out of the valley aboard the Cableway, taking in the breathtaking panorama of the stunning World Heritage Listed Blue Mountains National Park. At Scenic World Blue Mountains enjoy 360° views, taking in the famous Three Sisters, the magnificent Katoomba Falls, Mt Solitary and the near endless vista of the Jamison Valley.

For more information, visit http://www.scenicworld.com.au

1st shoot=semua posing cun2 (kamera Javier), 2nd shoot=Huong kasi tanduk kat Javier (kamera Huong), 3rd shoot=Aku plak tambah tanduk utk Huong (kamera aku).

Gambar ni masa kat Scenic Walking. Nampak tak Three Sisters kat belakang tuh?

p/s: gambar dalam Cableway takde. Giler padat orang dalam tuh, nak snap pon jenuh kena mencelah. Kalau badan kurus macam si Muneera boleh arr nak sempit, kalau dah saiz triple XL macam aku ni... melongo je la tengok LOL

Tour: Sydney-Sydney Tower/Skywalk

Balik dari Bondi Beach around 1730. Tunggu dinner at 1830 then sambung merayau. Kali ni pegi nak try Sydney Tower/Skywalk plak. Sebab memang join tour nie sorang2 so takde geng dgn sapa2. Tak sangka ramai gaks yg nak ikut. Kitaorg pergi bertujuh (Me+Huong+Javier+Saleh+Radin+Muhamed+Jihad). Tak jauh mana pon Sydney Tower dari tempat kitaorg stay, jalan kaki tak sampai 20 minit pon :-O

Sebab kitaorang pergi in a group+student so dapat diskaun. Tiket $40 for Sydney Tower+Observation Deck+Skywalk+OzTrek (Note: Sydney Tour Guide cost me $3 only)
Sydney Tower

Construction of Sydney Tower Centrepoint began in late 1970 with the first 52 shops opening in 1972. The office component was completed in 1974 and the final stage of the complex, the Sydney Tower, was opened to the public in August 1981.
Ranked as one of the safest buildings in the world the design has made the tower capable of withstanding earthquakes and extreme wind conditions. 56 cables stabilise the tower, and if the strands of these cables were laid end to end, they would reach from Sydney to Alice Springs, or from Sydney to New Zealand.

The turret has a capacity of 960 persons, and contains two levels of restaurants, a coffee lounge, an Observation Deck, two telecommunication transmission levels and three plant levels. Three high speed double deck lifts take approximately 40 seconds to travel from top to bottom.

The 1504 stairs, constantly monitored by security, provide emergency exit from the tower. Divided into two fire-isolated sets of pressurised stairs, they allow patrons direct access to street level.

The 420 windows of the tower are cleaned by a semi-automatic window-cleaning machine, which recycles and filters 50 litres of water. This machine takes two days to clean all 420 windows.

A 162,000 litre water tank, the tower's primary damping system, one million dollars worth of fire protection equipment and countless sprinklers add to the safety standards which far exceed normal building requirements.

Observation Deck

This is the gem at the top of Sydney’s crown. It's the best way to appreciate the contours of the Harbour and the spread of the city. There are two ways to get to the turret's Observation Deck - climb the 1504 stairs! - or ride to the top in one of three small, but fast, lifts. They power up the steel shaft of the tower in about 40 seconds to deposit you at the roof of Sydney for a 360-degree panorama you’ll never forget.

Standing 250 metres (820 feet) above the city streets, you encompass the breathtaking views of one of the world's most spectacular cities. Imagine if the first settlers were able to see such a view now! In the thriving city, everything looks neat: the tops of the fig trees in Hyde Park move in the wind like waves and the busy city streets seem to run smoothly.

You can now see Sydney Harbour Bridge as a bird does. Watch as ferries & yachts zoom around the stunning harbour. Watch cars and people going about their busy daily lives. Then cast your gaze around the horizon to see north towards the Central Coast of New South Wales, south towards the Royal National Park and Wollongong, and west all the way out to the distant Blue Mountains.

Towards Sydney airport the red tiled roofs of suburban bungalows stretch ever southwards, blue squares of swimming pools shimmering from grassy back yards. You might even catch a game of back yard cricket in action through the binoculars or see families enjoying time together in the many parks.

Diaorg semua tinggi2! Aku dgn Huong je yg katik LOL (baca: jari aku tuh sepatutnya nampak macam nak gunting Sydney Haarbour Bridge, tapi x jadi la plak LOL)

Naik Skywalk takleh bawak apa2, leh bawak badan je. Skyguides je yg bawak kamera & amik gambar semua. Cermin mata pon diaorg taruk tali supaya tak terbang (baca: rasa macam dah jadi nenek je bila kena pakai spek bertali gitu LOL)

Skywalk is a unique high-altitude adventure on top of Sydney Tower. At 260 metres above Sydney, experience an exhilarating outdoor walk on the roof of the city. Skywalk is a 45 minute adventure, running approximately every 45 minutes- no bookings required.

Dressed in protective clothing and safety-harnessed to external walkways, Skywalkers experience a buzz unmatched by any other Sydney attraction, at double the height of Sydney Harbor Bridge and the same height as the Eiffel Tower.
Tour: Sydney

Originally home to local Indigenous people, the Cadigal, The Rocks is the site of Australia’s first European settlement in 1788.

Since that time, The Rocks has undergone many transformations, from a convict town to a burgeoning port city by the mid 1800s. The 1900s were a period of change and immense upheaval.

Sydney’s first suburb’s character was totally altered as whole streets and homes were demolished when landmark events took place such as:
   a) the government resuming the area following the plague in 1901
   b) the construction of the city circle railway from the 1920s to the 1950s
   c) the building of the Harbour Bridge in the 1920’s and early 30’s
   d) the Cahill Expressway being built in the 1950s.

There are many ways to discover the past and connect with Sydney's heritage in The Rocks. Visit one of the many heritage attractions or take a walking tour of The Rocks to gain a deeper understanding of the people and the place through time.

Circular Quay is the hub of Sydney Harbour, situated at a small inlet called Sydney Cove, the founding site for Sydney and Australia. It is a stepping-off point for most attractions based around the harbour and an exciting place to be on a warm summer's day. The quay is a vibrant, bustling place with ferries leaving every few minutes to different parts of the harbour, including Manly, Watson .y, Mosman and Taronga Park Zoo. There are great views of the Harbour Bridge, a short distance away.

On the southern side of Circular Quay is a walkway that leads to the Sydney Opera House and Royal Botanical Gardens; while on the northern side, a short walk along lovely landscaped walkways takes you to the Harbour Bridge and The Rocks, one of the oldest, most attractive and most interesting parts of Sydney.

Circular Quay is at the foot of the central business district and the older, historic end of the city. Buses depart here for Bondi and the eastern suburbs.

There is a major railway station at the quay, which is part of the underground City Circle , which skirts around the CBD. Alongside the ferry terminals are a number of small outdoor cafes and the area is a magnet for buskers of every description.

Because we came as a tour group, so kitaorg dapat private tour inside SOH. Yang lagi bestnya, kitaorg dapat amik picture dalam Concert Hall (kalau ikut rules: camera are not allowed in the hall, hehe) Tapi seperti biasanya jugak la, amik gambar indoor... semua gegar!!!!! Tensen sungguh!
The Sydney Opera House is located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site on June 28, 2007.[1] Designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon and Ove Arup & Partners, the Sydney Opera House is one of the world's most distinctive 20th century buildings, and one of the most famous performing arts venues in the world. It is situated on Bennelong Point in Sydney Harbour, close to the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The building and its surroundings are one of the best known icons of Australia.

As well as many touring theatre, ballet, and musical productions, the Opera House is the home of Opera Australia, the Sydney Theatre Company and the Sydney Symphony. It is administered by the Opera House Trust, under the New South Wales Ministry of the Arts.

Lepas tour kat SOH, kitaorg naik feri ke Manly Wharf. G pusing2 Manly Beach + lunch *winks*
Wanna know about things that you can do in Manly??
Visit http://www.sydneyferries.info/ or http://www.manlywharf.com.au

The Sydney Harbour Bridge is a steel arch bridge across Sydney Harbour that carries rail, vehicular, and pedestrian traffic between the Sydney central business district (CBD) and the North Shore. The dramatic view of the bridge, the harbour, and the nearby Sydney Opera House is an iconic image of both Sydney and Australia. The bridge is locally nicknamed "The Coathanger" because of its arch-based design, although this usage is less prevalent than it once was.

The bridge was the city's tallest structure until 1967.According to Guinness World Records, it is the world's widest long-span bridge and its tallest steel arch bridge, measuring 134 metres (429.6 ft) from top to water level. It is also the fourth-longest spanning-arch bridge in the world.

Actually teringin nak try climb SHB tapi mahal banget seyy!! For adults, the ticket price vary from $179-$295 :-O (http://www.bridgeclimb.com/) Lenkali kalau datang Sydney laie, kena bawak bajet banyak2 arr :->

Our last destinantion for the day is Bondi Beach (pronounced "BOND-eye", or /'bɒndaɪ/)

"Bondi" or "Boondi" is an Aboriginal word meaning water breaking over rocks or noise of water breaking over rocks.[3] The Australian Museum records that Bondi means place where a flight of nullas took place.

The beginnings of the suburb go back to 1809, when the early road builder, William Roberts, received a grant of land in the area.[4] In 1851, Edward Smith Hall and Francis O'Brien purchased 200 acres (0.81 km²) of the Bondi area that embraced almost the whole frontage of Bondi Beach, and it was named the "The Bondi Estate." Hall was O'Brien's father-in-law. Between 1855 and 1877 O'Brien purchased his father-in-law's share of the land, renamed the land the "O'Brien Estate," and made the beach and the surrounding land available to the public as a picnic ground and amusement resort. As the beach became increasingly popular, O'Brien threatened to stop public beach access. However, the Municipal Council believed that the Government needed to intervene to make the beach a public reserve. It was not until June 9, 1882, that the Government acted and Bondi Beach finally became a public beach.

On Sunday, 6th February 1938, 5 people drowned and over 250 needed to be rescued after a series of freak waves struck the beach and pulled people back into the sea, a day that became tragically known as "Black Sunday".

Bondi Beach was a working class suburb throughout most of the twentieth century. Bondi Beach and the Eastern Suburbs also became home for many mainly Jewish migrants as people fled war and the Holocaust from Poland, Russia, Hungary, Czechoslovakia and Germany, while a steady stream of Jewish immigration continues into the 21st century mainly from South Africa, Russia and Israel. This characteristic can be noted by the synagogues, kosher butchers and the Hakoah Club. During the 1970s and 80s, it was renowned for its immigrant New Zealander population.

A major factor in Bondi's seedy image was the fact that Sydney's Water Board maintained an untreated sewage outlet not far from the north end of the beach, resulting in the term 'Bondi Cigar' - a somewhat exaggerated reference to human faeces floating in on the tide. The sewage outlet was closed in the mid 1990s when a deep water ocean outfall was built.

;-) :-> Riyana Nurul Muadz???

If I'm not mistaken, she was born on 25-Jan-2008. She's about 1 1/2 months now. Her mom emailed me her pictures about 3 weeks ago, but I didn't check my hotmail until about yesterday, hehehe.

p/s: When Reema (Riyana's mum) was single, I told her that if she have a daughter in future, her daughter's middle name will be my name. That's why I called this little girl Riyana Nurul Muadz :-D

HMAS Onslow= Her Majesty Australian Ship Onslow. 1st time tengok submarine live! Memang giler mengujakan! Radin (mamat Iran) tuh plak byk info pasal navy ship nie. Lagi la seronok dok mendengar dia kasi explanation :-D
HMAS Onslow (S-60), named after an Australian river whose name in turn was derived from a pioneering family famous in early Australian history (the town of Onslow in Western Australia was also named after a family member), was an Oberon-class submarine laid down by Scotts Shipbuilding and Engineering Company at Greenock in Scotland on 26 May 1967. On 17 July 1968, she was slightly damaged by fire, delaying her launch until 3 December 1968. Onlsow commissioned on 22 December 1969 and served in the 1st Submarine Squadron, based at HMAS Platypus at Neutral Bay in Sydney.

HMAS Onslow paid off 29 March 1999 and is preserved at the Australian National Maritime Museum at Darling Harbour in Sydney.source: wikipedia
